My Story

After 20 years living in England, I have loved moving home to East Lothian with my husband and our two children to begin a new chapter…

Being back in Scotland has rejuvenated my passion for fabric and home furnishings and has helped me reconnect with my roots. Design and craftsmanship is in the blood – I was first inspired by my grandfather, Campbell Reid of Whytock & Reid, whose Edinburgh based company were renowned interior designers, cabinet makers and restorers since 1850.

I have worked in the interiors industry for over 12 years. I gained a distinction in my soft furnishings qualifications, awarded by the Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers, and went on to work for Aspraes Ltd making high end furnishings to enhance beautiful homes around the world. In 2012, after the birth of my daughter, I set up Amanda Wells Design creating soft furnishings and window dressings for clients across the UK.

I’ve always been drawn to the artisan craft of a beautifully handmade lampshade and completed further training in 2021. I now design my own collections and deliver bespoke commissions.

I hope you love exploring the vivid colours in my lampshades and home furnishings. I carefully select fabrics and natural materials to complement and contrast – creating a unique design feature that will illuminate any room’s interiors scheme.
